Stress-controlled rheometers:
AR2000 and AR2000ex (TA instruments)
Investigation of the rheological behavior in oscillatory and steady shear flow of polysaccharide solutions and gels. Measurement of dynamic moduli (G’, G”) as a function of frequency and temperature. Creep. Normal force measurement (AR2000).
Strain-controlled rheometer:
ARES-RFS (TA Instruments)
Investigation of the rheological behavior in oscillatory and steady shear flow of polysaccharide solutions and gels. Measurement of dynamic moduli (G’, G”) as a function of frequency and temperature. Stress relaxation. Normal force measurement.
Viscometer based on the Couette principle:
Low Shear 30 (Contraves)
Measurements of the viscosity for low viscous samples (viscosity from 1 mPa.s). Shear rates from 10-2 to 128 s-1. Measurements at fixed temperatures (15-80°C).
Capillary Viscometer
(SCHOTT Instruments):
Determination of the intrinsic viscosity by automatic dilution of solutions. Measurements at fixed temperatures (15-80°C).
Tensile testing machine
(Shimadzu)
Investigation of the mechanical properties of polysaccharide films and hydrogels in both tension and compression.
Drop tensiometer
(IT concept)
Measurements of the surface tension and interfacial tension.
Elongational viscoelasticity (determination of the interface moduli E’ and E” according to the frequency). Contact angles. Fixed temperatures (15-80°C).
Thermogravimetry
(Setaram)
Analysis on 10 mg of sample. Temperature: 20 to 450°C.
DSC microcalorimeter
(Setaram)
Study of reactions involving biomacromolecules or conformational changes that lead to a change in energy (release (exothermic) or absorption (endothermic) of heat).
0.9 mL cells.
